Piranha Games just revealed the next extension of its FPS that makes rolling mechanics, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. Entitled Rise of Rasalhague, it will be released on January 26 for the modest sum of $14.99. From the Steam pagethe DLC will bring a new campaign of 12 missions, a new Mech with its 11 variations but also various quality of life improvements (IA, performances). If you have never played Mechwarrior 5our 2019 test spoke of it as a “nice game that might have been excellent” :
The action phases that constitute the heart of the game are successful, but everything around them leaves something to be desired. The gameplay loop is short and repetitive. The management part is simplistic. The scenario is told only through dialogues that I quickly zapped. Co-op is poorly implemented. And we might even blame the game for not being tactical enough, the fault of an AI bugger and the impossibility of giving orders other than “go there”, “go back to formation” or “cease fire”.
