Another honorable distinction, this time at the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival, went to the short documentary entitled “Exodus Messolonghi through my own eyes” by Messolongitis, born to actor, choreographer and dancer, Konstantinos Menounos.
It is a production, directed and edited by Christos Arfanis and video by Leonidas Stoumbous, which is inspired by the festivities that take place every year for the Exodus of Messolonghi.
It is worth noting that this particular short documentary has traveled a remarkable international path in festivals abroad, having won many awards.
Such as: Winner at Golden Lion International Film Festival 2023 – Award Winner at Indiefare International Film Festival 2024 etc.
The original costume is from the Workshop of Nikos Plakidas, while the well-known actor Konstantinos Menounos is dressed by Anastasia Kalliafa from Mesolongia.
“I STARTED IT AS A JUSTICE”
Speaking to “P”, Konstantinos Menounos notes:
“We shot the documentary together with Leonidas Stoumbos, so that I might have it, as a memento, for my participation in this great anniversary moment of the Exodus of Messolonghi which takes place every year in the Holy City of Messolonghi, which is my mother’s birthplace.
We didn’t expect all of us together who created this snapshot, that he would have this luck and that we would be offered to participate in one festival at first and then be sent messages to participate in so many more festivals.
They keep asking for it from then until today, a souvenir we made without even expecting, to have this course in festivals abroad. This means that it was done with spontaneity, truth, passion, love and emotion for this moment through my own eyes, looking through a “mirror” without knowing the sequel…”.
And concluding, he wishes:
“I hope we become the occasion and the idea to make a film regarding the heroic Exodus of Messolonghi.”
