New details on the Battle Royale mode “Tatanka”

We just found out that Certain Affinity is working on a Battle Royale mode for Halo Infinite works, thanks to a data mine. It was also confirmed that developers Certain Affinity should take care of “new areas” in the game. 1+1 equals Battle Royale. At least there are already so many different leaks that it can only be true. The game is currently in an “explosive situation” as it is losing players instead of growing. That doesn’t bode well for free multiplayer.

A sophisticated Battle Royale mode might save Halo Infiniteeven if the community itself is not so sure.

“Every Spartan for himself! Increase your loadout by accumulating personal points to be the last Spartan standing,” the datamine reads. The new mode should be called “Last Spartan Standing”, so even more that speaks for Battle Royale.

Halo Infinite: Not another battle royale mode

The Battle Royale doesn’t work for all titles was already shown by the “ring of fire” in Battlefield 5, so what makes Halo Infinite different? At least the codename, “Tatanka,” inspired by a WWE wrestler who won the 40-man battle royale match called “Bashed” in the US, hints at large-scale action. 100 Spartans in the arena should result in faster fights than those in Fortnite or PUBG. In terms of movement, it might compete with a Fortnite if the grappling hooks are “delivered”.

The map? The campaign offers a large setup that you can drag at will. Actually, a lot would have been presented for a good Battle Royale game. Now the only interesting thing is how the performance, i.e. the net code, runs and how it is raised.

Which modes should Battle Royale offer in Halo Infinite?

According to InfiniteLeaks on Twitter, there should be some setting options for “Tatanka”. Some of the customization options include Sudden Death and how many teams remain to trigger it, choosing respawn tokens and the ability to choose where the circle zeros. You probably don’t start with a pistol, like in Warzone, but with an assault rifle. Of course there are also a lot of air drops, as in the main game itself.

The game count of the Battle Royale mode in Halo Infinite should probably be on par with the competition: lobbies between 60 and 100 people. Playable alone or in pairs, in threes or in a squad, i.e. four players.

It only remains to be seen when the mode will start. The player count is currently so low that even the Master Chief Collection has more players at times, at least on Steam – How many players start the title via Microsoft Store on the PC is not known.

Halo Infinite is available for Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox One. Season 2 starts in May343 Industries already showed us a trailer and gave us details.
