New CPF Training Rules: What You Need to Know to Save 100 Euros

The arbitration has finally been rendered. According to the daily Les Echos, the government will impose, from May 1, a liability of 100 euros for any use of the personal training account (CPF), on which the French automatically accumulate money each year. Bercy pleaded for a contribution of 10% of the amount of the training. It is therefore a small victory for the new Minister of Labor, Catherine Vautrin, who managed to cushion the blow. The solution chosen will be more favorable to many users, the average cost of CPF training having reached 1,560 euros in 2023. The unemployed will be spared.

The government thus hopes to achieve 250 million euros in savings this year and 375 million from 2025. This involves reducing the deficit generated by France Competences, the organization which finances the CPF thanks to the proceeds of the contribution to vocational training and business apprenticeship.

The measure is part of the ten billion savings announced by Bruno Le Maire to try to keep the deficit reduction to 4.4% in 2024. The Ministry of Labor must contribute up to 1.1 billion.
