New corruption investigation for a dinner with Spinelli –

The Genoa prosecutor’s office is also investigating corruption for the electoral dinner last April, an event that was already acknowledged in the first order that had led to house arrest of the former Ligurian president Giovanni Toti and the port entrepreneur Aldo Spinelli. The ‘new’ episode contested to the two suspects will not be part of the immediate one set for next November 5. For the public prosecutors Federico Manotti and Luca Monteverde, the dinner that was held in a villa to raise funds, in view of the regional elections of 2025, would hide something else: ten seats would have been reserved by Spinelli thus guaranteeing 4,500 euros in favor of Toti. A first payment and the hypothesis of a second are being examined by the investigators. After the resignation as governor, the tug of war between the politician and the Genoa prosecutor’s office continues.
