New Coronavirus Discovery: Evidence Sars-CoV-2 Was Not Manufactured in the Laboratory

This discovery is presented by some scientists as proof that Sars-CoV-2 was not manufactured in the laboratory.

Of the Chinese scientists discovered a new coronavirus in bats. This has a “furin cleavage site”, a piece of the genome which gives the carrying virus a great capacity to infect human cells. The latter is present in the Spike protein of Sars-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the disease Covid-19.

This genetic oddity fuels suspicions regarding the origin of Covid-19, with some “experts” claiming the virus might only have been created through laboratory experiments. Since then, studies have shown that coronaviruses can acquire this genetic code naturally.

But the newly discovered virus presents another oddity. Known as TyRo-CoV-162275he is 98% identical to coronaviruses found in pangolinsthe animal long suspected of having transmitted Covid-19 from bats to humans.

1,000 kilometers from Wuhan

The research was recently published in the journal Virologica Sinicaled by Shi Zhengli, who gained international fame during the pandemic for his work on bat viruses, explains the Daily Mail.

The study was conducted between 2016 and 2017. Scientists from several Chinese academies of zoology and science collected samples of 20 different bat species in Yunnan and Guangdong provinces, at 1,600 and 1,000, respectively. kilometers of Wuhan, considered the epicenter of the pandemic. Scientists discovered that nine species of bats carried 58 coronaviruses and were able to obtain the complete genomes of two of them, including TyRo-CoV-162275.

This discovery is presented by some scientists as proof that Sars-CoV-2 was not manufactured in the laboratory.
