Never used much by the Raptors and quite annoyed by physical glitches this season, Dalano has been around 4 points and 1 and a half assists per game since his arrival in the NBA. In about ten minutes spent on the courts it is not very representative, but the percentages, 41% overall and a small 30% by far, are even less reassuring. That didn’t stop Brad Stevens’ Celtics from trusting DB for two years.

According to Spotrac, it is even two guaranteed years that are slipped into Banton’s deal with the C’s. An opportunity to start the adventure in green without pressure for the leader, who will have a place to take on the back lines with the departure of Marcus Smart and the more than worrying state of health of Malcolm Brogdon. This is certainly not what will reassure the fans of the Cs and Jayson Tatum concerning position 1 but for Dalano it is nothing but a chance to be seized.
We also doubt that Stevens signed him for anything other than role player status. DB will have to take advantage of its large size (2m06) to defend on several opposing positions while increasing the cursor in terms of offensive efficiency. He will probably start the season quite far in the hierarchy behind Malcolm Brogdon if his body leaves him alone, Derrick White, or even Payton Pritchard if he stays.
