New case for AirPods is patented with touchscreen

Apple’s AirPods case might get a completely new design. The patent for the new AirPods case shows us that it would have a new format and would still have a touchscreen, similar in size to the display of an Apple Watch. In the description of the record it is said that the screen would be able to give access to media controls and even applications such as, for example, maps, weather and notifications.

According to the patent document, the case of the AirPods still allow the user to switch between applications using voice commands via a virtual assistant (Siri). In one of the images, you can see that there will be the ability to stream music from the AirPods to a HomePod.

Originally the patent was filed by Apple in September 2022, meaning the company may be seriously considering implementing this new design for the AirPods charging case. However, it is important to say that Apple usually registers several patents, where only some are actually applied to its products.

Is Apple innovating with the new AirPods case?

The vast majority of people must think that putting a touch screen in a case is a novelty and that Apple would be innovating by patenting this idea. However, this is not the case, as JBL has already launched a TWS headset with a touch screen that allows the user to control media independently, without the need to use the cell phone.
