On May 9th, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association Federation and the National Light Motor Vehicle Association Federation announced the new car sales ranking by car name for April 2023. Toyota’s “Yaris” topped the passenger car category, while Honda Motor’s “N-BOX” topped the light vehicle category.
As for the Prius, a new model was launched, ranking fourth in passenger car rankings. Sales volume was 7838 units (237.2% compared to the same month of the previous year).

Among the top 3 passenger cars, the Toyota “Yaris” was in first place with 14,143 units (140.8% compared to the same month of the previous year), followed by the Toyota “Corolla” in 2nd place with 10,662 units (107.6% compared to the same month in the previous year) and 3rd. 9195 units of Toyota “Sienta” (220.8% compared to the same month of the previous year).
The top three minicars are the Honda “N-BOX” with 14,986 units (97.0% compared to the same month of the previous year), followed by the Daihatsu “Tanto” with 11,981 units (164.8% compared with the same month of the previous year). Suzuki “Spacia” was in the top place with 10,018 units (131.8% compared to the same month of the previous year).
