New bridge to improve connectivity and quality of life in Tavaí

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has begun construction of a metal bridge in Tavaí, Caazapá department, as part of a road infrastructure project that spans several departments of the country.

The work, framed in the SG Minister Contract No. 142/2023 and the National Public Tender No. 41/2022, will replace a precarious collapsed wooden structure and the current pedestrian suspension bridge, which are insufficient for the needs of the growing community.

The new infrastructure, 48 metres long, will feature a metal deck, a pedestrian walkway and embankment accesses designed for all types of vehicles, the Ministry of Public Works reported.

This significant improvement in safety and accessibility will benefit residents of Tavaí, Toro Blanco, nearby settlements and indigenous communities in the region, who currently demonstrate great resilience by using the limited existing bridge on a daily basis.

The construction will not only strengthen the interconnection between communities, but will also generate new employment opportunities by facilitating access to markets for local producers, streamlining transport, trade and access to essential services such as education.
