New Boston Whaler 280 Dauntless: it replaces the 270

A page is turning for the admiral of the Dauntless range… After almost 10 years of good and loyal service, the 270 Dauntless gives way to its successor, the 280 Dauntless, which the American shipyard Boston Whaler announced in August.

Like its predecessor and like the other models in the Dauntless range, it relies on versatility, with the program, walks, water sports, fishing, etc. The deck plan takes up the codes of the 270, with in particular this rear bench seat whose backrest lowers to form an ideal platform for casting and other fishing activities.

The front part also consists of two side benches whose backrests can be lifted. A table is also inserted in the center to form a square. As for the central bench seat which takes place in front of the console, it conceals a large trunk and, thanks to its exceptional length, constitutes a superb sunbathing area. The console houses storage for the toilets, but does not constitute a cabin as such.

Note the presence of a side door on the port side, in the cockpit, for easy access to the sea. On the engine side, this Boston Whaler 280 Dauntless can accommodate a single engine (400 hp max) or a twin engine (2 x 300 hp Mercury V8 AMS). With this last power, the yard recorded 50.8 knots at 6,000 rpm. Cruising speed is 28.7 knots at 3,500 rpm. For comparison, with a 400 hp Verado, this 280 Dauntless reaches 42.9 knots at 6,700 rpm.
