Internet operators will have free access on equal terms to apartment buildings. The corresponding bill was adopted by the State Duma in the first reading. The document also nullifies the fee for placing equipment by providers, the Ministry of Digital Transformation reported.
The bill should solve the problem that many Russian providers faced: when they tried to lay the Internet in apartment buildings, they met with resistance from management companies, which agreed to allow only selected operators. In addition, the management companies set a fee for providers allegedly for the placement of equipment, which was constantly growing – by an average of 15-20% per year. At the same time, money, as a rule, was not spent on the maintenance of houses.
“Opponents of the bill insisted that the free access of operators would create a mess of equipment and wires in houses. But this will not happen: the government will approve uniform standards for the placement of communication networks in order to ensure order, ”the Mintsifry commented on the bill.
