ASUS has new gaming notebooks up its sleeve from the ROG Zephyrus M16 line, new signs suggest, with launch expected for next year. Leaks indicate that these models will feature Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processors, up to 32 GB of soldered LPDDR5X memory, 1 TB of NVMe SSD, in addition to the powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 16 GB GDDR6X GPU.

Intel’s Meteor Lake processor family will arrive on December 14th, so more details on the CPU’s performance will be coming soon. According to informant @momomo_us, the Zephyrus M16 should have a 16-inch screen with QuadHD resolution in a 16:10 aspect ratio (2560 × 1600), although the refresh rate has not yet been confirmed.

In these models, Intel is adopting the SoC —or System on Chip— standard for Meteor Lake, allowing the integration of CPU and NPU for artificial intelligence, promising powerful systems with lower thermal designs. Despite the x86 architecture, the adoption of this architecture ends up soldering some of these components, such as RAM and primary storagewhich prevents them from being manually changed by the user later.

It is expected, however, that gaming notebooks will offer some form of secondary storage expandability, allowing the installation of games without depending on external SSDs with speeds lower than NVMe.
