Linz (OTS/LCG) – The Anton Bruckner Private University welcomed the trombonist for the 2023/24 winter semester Andreas Eitzinger as a new university professor at the Institute for Brass Instruments and Percussion. The internationally acclaimed actress Antje Schmidt took up her position as Professor of Drama at ABPU.
With Antje Schmidt and Andreas Eitzinger succeeded in winning two established artists to the faculty of the Anton Bruckner Private University. Trombonist Eitzinger is a graduate of the house and has already earned an international reputation. About Andreas Eitzinger
Andreas Eitzinger was born in 1982 in Vöcklabruck, Upper Austria. He studied trombone at the Anton Bruckner Private University Josef Kürner. During his studies he was a multiple first prize winner at “Prima La Musica”. In 2004 he was a winner in the solo category of the “GRADUS AD PARNASSUM” competition. In January 2006, Eitzinger won the Vienna Symphony Orchestra’s Anton Bruckner Prize. He has been solo trombonist with the Tonkunstler Orchestra of Lower Austria since 2006 and has been a professor at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt since 2012. In 2015 he played the premiere of the triple concerto with the Tonkunstlerorchester Niederösterreich Bernd Richard German in the large hall of the Vienna Music Association. Master classes and lecturer work at the Klagenfurt Conservatory, the ABPU, the MUK, at the Palm Klang Festival in Oberalm, Per Sonare Blechfest 2014, Woodstock Academy, Donau Brass Festival Grein, etc. Many years of orchestral activity at the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Volksoper, with the Wiener Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mozarteum Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the RSO Vienna, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Klangforum Wien or the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. Eitzinger is also a member of Phil Blech Vienna and Pro Brass. He has performed as a guest with various ensembles and orchestras at home and abroad and has appeared as a solo artist with the SBO-Ried, the Upper Austrian Youth Symphony Orchestra, the ABPU Orchestra and the “Little Orchestra of Vienna”.
About Antje Schmidt
Antje Schmidt started her professional career as an actress at the Residenztheater in Munich and at the same time made her debut with her first leading role in the cinema Xaver Schwarzenbergers Film “At the Next Man…” She was awarded the Bavarian Prize for Science and Culture for her outstanding artistic achievements at the Residenztheater. She worked with, among other things Peter Palitzsch, Martin Kušej, Amėlie Niermeyer and Georges Tabori. Further stops include the Maxim Gorki Theater, Theater Bonn and the Berliner Ensemble. Since then, she has appeared in over 90 film and television productions and received the Bavarian Television Award for the best leading role in both the comedy and drama categories. Schmidt has been teaching at the HfS Ernst Busch as a guest lecturer for over ten years.
