New apartment in Cyberpunk 2077 during a sandstorm resembles the style of the movie “Blade Runner”

Cyberpunk 2077 received the 1.5 update a few days ago, and one of its main features is the new purchasable (and customizable) apartments.

A Cyberpunk 2077 player who bought an apartment in The Glen visited during a massive sandstorm and found the scene looked like it was from a Blade Runner movie. With a stark contrast between the apartment’s darkened interior and sunlight shining through a storm, the images he posted have a stark contrast that fans of both cyberpunk franchises are sure to love.

While patch 1.5 raised Cyberpunk 2077’s system requirements across the board, it wasn’t without good reason. Significantly improved ray tracing and lighting quality have made many game scenes more beautiful. As the screenshots show, the work of CD Projekt RED was not in vain.

While it’s clear that both Cyberpunk 2077 and Blade Runner 2049 draw inspiration from the same source, the vastly different approaches to telling similar posthuman and transhuman stories divide the two franchises in most cases. However, the game’s apartment in the Glen seems like a potentially deliberate reference when a sandstorm hits.

Players wishing to experience this discovery for themselves can purchase an apartment in The Glen through their home computer for the very, very low price of 40,000 eddies. More expensive options are available, but sandstorms are localized to certain areas of the map and will not reach other apartments. However, it is clear that the Glen apartment is sure to become a new home for players who also enjoy Blade Runner’s grunge sci-fi style.
