In the third reading, the State Duma adopted a bill that allows a mother to be released from prison on parole if she has a child under four years of age in her care. This decision was made at a plenary meeting.

New amendments on the early release of mothers were adopted at the plenary meeting of the Duma in the second and third readings. Broadcast was conducted on the official website of the State Duma. A pregnant woman or mother of a child under four years of age has the opportunity to be released on parole if she has already served a sentence of at least one quarter of the sentence for a minor crime. Previously, according to the bill, such an opportunity was available only if the child was no more than three years old. The new norms will come into force 180 days from the date of signing the document.
