New advice from experts for people most at risk of severe symptoms of Covid

Five vaccine experts told Archyde.com that people most at risk of developing severe symptoms of Covid and who have not yet received a second booster dose to prevent the disease should not wait for the next generation of vaccines expected in the fall.

In many countries, including the United States, cases of Omicron PA5 sub-mutation are increasing, but current vaccines still provide protection once morest hospitalization in severe symptoms and death.

As the virus develops, it is not known which release will be in widespread circulation in the fall or whether the new vaccines – which are expected to target PA4 and 5 mutants in the United States and BA1 in Europe – will be a good fit.

“If you need a booster, get it now,” said Dr. John Moore, professor of microbiology and immunology at Weill Cornell Medical College, who co-wrote an editorial on the topic published Friday.

Experts told Archyde.com that given the current increase and declining people’s immunity, the best booster dose for those at risk is available in existing vaccines.
