Former player Virender Sehwag has come forward pointing out the main problem faced by the Indian team, which was eliminated without seeing the final in the Asia Cup.
Sehwag cautions that injuries to players who are constantly plaguing the national team should be taken seriously. Players are not injured during the match. Therefore, the injury of the players is a concern. An example of this is that Ravindra Jadeja’s injury did not come from the ground. That means something is wrong outside and in the gym, claims the former opener.
‘India’s problems are injuries that don’t happen on the cricket field. No one is addressing it. Hardik Pandya was injured while bowling. However, most players get injured in the gym or outside of competition. We have never seen Jadeja injured on the cricket field. It was only following the match that we got to know regarding his injury. That means things that happen outside or in the gym need to be addressed,” Sehwag said.
Skills are important. If you are playing a series in the Indian team then the gym is less important, talent is the priority. If you have a gap of two months, fitness is important, added the actor. He cites cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as an example. He regularly lifted 6-8 kg. However, he added that stars including Virat Kohli are sharing videos of themselves lifting 50-60 kg.
