Neuchâtel lifts the mask in nurseries and schools

There will be no exception in Neuchâtel. The Council of State has decided to lift all the remaining health measures with immediate effect, thus aligning itself with the decisions of the Federal Council taken the day before.

Almost all of the restrictions are thus lifted from this Thursday, February 17 in the canton of Neuchâtel. The compulsory wearing of a mask in public schools (including high schools and vocational schools) and nurseries or extracurricular structures will, for example, no longer be compulsory for children or staff.

As recommended by the Federal Council, it will nevertheless remain in demand in public transport and health establishments. Isolation of at least five following a positive test result also remains in place.

“All necessary precautions”

For the Neuchâtel authorities, the epidemic and hospital context is today “more favorable, but nevertheless remains tense in the canton.”

“Despite this welcome return to normality and a certain optimism, the Council of State calls on the population to exercise caution and to take all the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others, and more particularly vulnerable people”, nuance the press release.

No more color coding

Deemed “more relevant in this new situation”, the color code – blue, yellow, orange or red depending on the number of infections identified – put in place since June 2021 will be deactivated on the State website.

“The Council of State, with the help of the cantonal management staff, will however continue to carefully monitor the evolution of the health situation in our canton.”
