“Super Nintendo Switch”, a golden opportunity for Nintendo, according to several Internet users and gamers. A reminder of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Super Famicom in Japan), which was released in the 90s after the Nintendo Entertainment System.
“If this is really the ‘Switch 2’, I can’t help but feel like Nintendo is forgetting its roots,” says one user on X. “Switch 2 is a bland corporate name. Super Nintendo Switch is really here!” he adds.
While it can’t be confirmed that the console that will succeed the Switch will actually be called the Switch 2, rumors are taking over the Internet. And while many believe that the name Switch 2 is appropriate, others hope that their proposal will be accepted.
“I like “Super Nintendo Switch,” says another user. “I feel like [ce nom] communicates what the console is, whether or not you know Nintendo’s history with the phrase. Given that it’s a handheld console, “Switch Advance” is also an interesting option.”
Others have suggested that the name “Switch 2” is too similar to Sony’s habits, which have named their home consoles PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, etc.
“Imagine missing out on calling the Switch 2 the “Super Nintendo Switch”. Imagine,” another person said.
Regardless of the name, the console has yet to be unveiled by Nintendo, who have however confirmed that an unveiling will take place soon. Some believe that the unveiling will take place in September, as Nintendo usually holds a presentation during the month of September, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
