Harare: Netherlands beat former world champions in World Cup qualifier thriller. The Netherlands won in the Super Over. Logan van Beek of the Netherlands scored 30 runs with three sixes and three fours once morest Jason Holder of the Windies in the Super Over and became the star of the game with his all-round excellence. In the stipulated 50 overs, West Indies scored 374 runs for the loss of six wickets and Netherlands for nine wickets.
Van Beek also bowled for the Netherlands in the Super Over. Needing 31 runs, West Indies hit a six and two singles in the first three balls. Johnson Charles (7) in the fourth ball and Romario Shepherd (0) in the fifth ball conceded defeat. West Indies’ qualification for the World Cup final round is in doubt following losing to Zimbabwe in the last match.
Batting first, West Indies reached 374 runs thanks to Nicholas Pooran’s century (104* off 65 balls). In reply, Teja Nidamanuru (111 off 76 balls) scored a century for the Netherlands. They only reached 170 runs in the thirtieth over. However, Teja, captain Scott Edwards (67 off 47 balls) and Logan van Beek (28 off 14 balls) put on 200 runs in the last 20 overs to level the score.
