According to official information, the contact details of all around 65,000 Dutch police employees have probably fallen into the hands of a foreign state in a cyber attack. Investigations by the secret and security services considered it “very likely” that a foreign state was responsible for the crime, Justice Minister David van Weel told parliament in The Hague.

Last week it became known that hackers had stolen the contact details of all police employees by breaking into a police computer. This included names, email addresses, phone numbers and, in some cases, private information. The secret and security services have been warning for years about an increase in cyber attacks from countries such as China, Russia and Iran.
