After the cult series That ’70s Show, Laura Prepon spawned a spin-off program on Netflix, That ’90s Show, which revealed itself in a tender trailer.
American television series That ’70s Show forged the daily lives of many spectators during its 200 episodes broadcast in the late 90s and during the 2000s. It is therefore not surprising that the sitcom was entitled to its spin-off series on Netflix.
But as the times dictate, the license has had a facelift by being back with a kind of legacyquel (a sequel with new characters that embraces the time that elapsed between two iterations of a cult saga). It was the ideal and all-found solution to revive all this with a spin-off and all that was missing was a trailer to arouse curiosity… and luckily, she just lefte.
On the menu, Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer. She befriends the new generation of young people in Point Place under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern gaze of Red during the year 1995.
In view of this summary, this first season will surely rely heavily on its legacy to attract the aficionado of the basic material. This is why we find the characters of yesteryear embodied by the same actors. Thus, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Kurtwood Smith, Debra Jo Rupp, Topher Grace or even Laura Prepon are back to accompany the first steps on the screen of this fresh generation of actors. The next teen band is made up of Maxwell Acee Donovan, Sam Morelos, Mace Coronel, Callie Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide and Reyn Doi, six new faces ready to throw killer lines supported by the laughter of the public in the background.
We take the same and start once more
And to further affirm the idea that production was not born of purely mercantile interests (not that), it is Laura Preponone of the figures of the original serial format, who directed the episodes. The passing of the torch is therefore all the more resounding. Moreover, the future version will take up the spirit of its elder, aesthetically and technically. Fans of the early days will therefore certainly feel like fish in water and will dive back into the city and the scenery they loved at the time (this cellar).
Finally, to know if That ’90s Show worth a look and is truly a heirloom series worthy of the name, it will be visible on Netflix from January 19, 2023.
