The entry-level offer for Netflix is no longer available. The platform has removed its cheapest subscription – excluding the package including advertisements. This logic is part of an approach already underway in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
In the hot seat for several months, the “Essential” offer is no longer accessible on the Netflix site, spotted Mac4ever. This disappearance was confirmed by Netflix to Tech&Co. From now on, it is only possible to choose between the “Standard with Ads”, “Standard” and “Premium” packages.
An increase of 23%
With Tech&Co, the platform assures that “nothing changes for subscribers” of the “Essential” offer. They will continue to benefit from their price of 10.99 euros. But if they change their plan or stop their plan, they will no longer be able to switch to this subscription and will have to pay 13.49 euros to watch Netflix without .
Thus, viewers will now have to pay 2.50 euros more to benefit from Netflix without . That’s an increase of 23%. The “Essential” offer underwent a price increase in mid-October, going from 8.99 euros to 10.99 euros. The “Standard” offer was spared from this increase.
During the year, several indicators had suggested the end of the offer. Initially, the “Essential” offer was hidden. On the website, only three packages have been offered since January: “Essential with ”, “Standard” and “Premium”. Finally, the “Essential with ” offer had recently been renamed “Standard with ”. It is available at 5.99 euros per month. A price much lower than the “Standard” offer, in return for the appearance of commercial content during the viewing of films and series.
