Streaming is growing more and more, according to a survey carried out by the market analysis company Nielsen. Research data says that the number of content available on platforms like Netflix, Prime Video and Disney Plus has grown by almost 40% in the last two years.
Detailing a little more, in 2021 countries like Germany, Canada, United States and Mexico had 1.9 million titles available on streaming platforms. This number grew to 2.35 million in 2023, which represents a 39% increase in 2 years.
If, on the one hand, the huge amount of titles available is an attraction, Nielsen says that 1 in 5 users abandoned the platform because they might not find something interesting to watch.
Now speaking of audience, 38.7% of TVs were used to watch series and movies on platforms such as Netflix, Disney Plus and Prime Video. On the other hand, open TV (20%) and cable (29.6%) registered an audience below 50% for the first time.
An interesting detail is the interest in local content in the traditional format, as research indicates that North Americans spent 60% of their time watching programs on traditional TV channels in May of this year.
