Harry and Meghan are preparing to release various new works on Netflix

A Netflix executive revealed that British Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are working on several documentaries, in addition to a television series and an adapted film, according to The Telegraph.

The couple, who signed a lucrative five-year contract with Netflix in 2020, will be under pressure to obtain high ratings, amid the deal worth up to $100 million.

This comes after they appeared at the premiere of the movie “Bob Marley: One Love” in Jamaica, alongside Brian Robbins, CEO of Paramount Pictures, sparking speculation that they may be looking for a new deal.

Bella Bajaria, Chief Content Officer at Netflix, revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have several major projects in the works, and are working with Brandon Rigg, Vice President of Unscripted Content.

When she was asked at an introductory event in “Hollywood” about the next step for Prince Harry and Meghan, she replied: “Oh, what are they working on?” “They have some unwritten things they’re working on with Brandon.”

She continued: “They actually have a bunch of things… a movie in development, and a scripted series they are working on, so it was very early in development, with a movie, a TV show, and a couple of unscripted shows… but yes, the movie is great.”

Netflix has allocated £3 million to secure the film rights to “Meet Me at the Lake,” a romantic novel written by Carly Fortune, which will be produced by the couple’s Archewell Foundation.

As part of the next stage of the deal, the Duke is said to hope to return to Africa to make a documentary, although the project is still in its early stages.

Sources close to the couple previously told The Telegraph that they also have several “interesting” TV series in the pipeline.

One source said: “There will be a greater focus on fictional and scripted content… It will be romantic comedies, and feel-good, light-hearted programmes.”

For the most part, the pair will embrace executive producer roles, allowing them to pursue other projects and charitable work.

The production of The Prince and His Wife, linked to Netflix, was halted last year due to the Hollywood writers’ strike.

So far, they have produced only a few shows. The documentary series “Harry & Meghan” was released in December 2022.

“Heart of Invictus,” the duke’s behind-the-scenes documentary about competitors preparing for the 2022 Games, followed last August, and the pair also lent their voices to “Live to Lead,” a series that includes pre-recorded interviews with global leaders and activists.

Megan’s animated show “Pearl,” about strong women in history, has been dropped.

Meanwhile, Archewell lost another senior member of staff last month when Bennett Levin, its production manager, resigned after just two years.

Last year, Ben Browning, head of internal content, and Fara Taylor, who led the marketing team, also left, and neither has been replaced. Last month, Archewell’s tax filings revealed an $11 million drop in donations last year to $2 million, leaving it at a loss.
