Netflix Launches New Home Page – Subscriber Reaction – 2024-07-28 20:50:42

For the past month, the streaming service has been testing a revamp of the home page that appears in the TV app. Only a few, select users have been able to see the new home screen, but public feedback is far from encouraging.

Earlier this year, Netflix caused controversy online after it tightened its restrictions, which meant an account could not be shared in more than one home.

Now the subscription platform’s newest changes are also proving unpopular with the public, with Netflix’s new home screen being tested since last month failing to “win over” the public.

“It’s so bad I canceled my subscription”

One Reddit user wrote “there was nothing wrong with the old home screen. It was easily the best of the rest of the streaming services,” while another user said: “The new home screen is so crap, why change something that works so well?”

A third user commented: “It seems like they’re trying to encourage the audience to spend more time in the menu – which is recorded as watch time – rather than providing access to the content itself, making the menu the content.” Finally, one rather angry user reported that the “new home page is so bad I canceled my subscription”.

Some complaints online about the new updates claim that the new features are actually “downgrades” rather than improving the user experience.
