Netflix launches a new feature for all its subscribers before the arrival of paid account sharing

The SVoD leader now allows you to transfer an existing profile to a new account. A way to encourage people to have their own subscription.

“People are moving. Families grow. End of relationship. But throughout these life changes, your Netflix experience should remain the same. Today we are launching Profile Transfer, a feature that allows people using your account to transfer a profile to a new account”Netflix announced on October 17 in a note on its blog.

Barely announced and already deployed, many French subscribers and everywhere else in the world are currently receiving an email from Netflix announcing this addition. In detail, this new feature allows subscribers to retain personalized recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games and other settings) when they start their own subscription.

“If you don’t want to allow this feature on your account, you can disable forwarding at any time. In the absence of action on your part, it will be automatically activated within 10 days”specifies Netflix.

To transfer a profile, navigate to the “Transfer Profile” option when hovering over your profile icon in the drop-down menu on the homepage, then simply follow the instructions.

In 2023, Netflix will step up a gear by rolling out paid account sharing. Last July, the American juggernaut declared being at the early stages of work to monetize the 100 million households currently benefiting but not paying directly. “We know this will be a game changer for our members. As such, we launched two different approaches in Latin America to find out more. Our goal is to find an easy-to-use paid tool, a sharing offer that we believe works for our members and our business,” he said.
