A large number of Netflix followers have slammed the platform harshly amid news that James Cameron’s blockbuster Titanic (1997) will be streaming on the platform starting July 1.
People have questioned the timing of the film’s release, as it comes in the wake of the recent tragedy in which five people were killed on the OceanGate Titan submersible in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.
And one fan wrote: “Netflix is going beyond the bounds of decency at this time… People died in a tragic accident at the Titanic site and now to take advantage of this moment to attract viewers is abhorrent.”Daily Mail“.
Others had similar views on the situation, saying it was “shameful” that the film was being promoted because “the timing is so wrong”; And that the operator “saw the opportunity and wasted no time.”
