In “Pamela, a love story” the actress traces her life and her struggle to define her own image. But she shows herself unusually intimate.
Actress Pamela Anderson has rarely been in front of the camera in recent years. But she was still the subject of a major series last year: The Disney-Serie „Pam & Tommy“ showed the story of the “sex tape” by Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee that surfaced in 1995. Lily James slipped into the role of the “Bawatch” star. Now Anderson speaks for himself: Released on January 31st Netflix the documentary “Pamela, a love story”, or in German “Pamela, a love story”. In the first trailer, the actress is unusually open and unadorned.
“I want to take control of my story for the first time,” she says. You see her sitting around the campfire in a cowboy hat and lots of footage from her past, of paparazzi harassing her, but also home videos with her two sons.
The documentary aims to explore Anderson’s rise from small town girl to international sex symbol, her acting career, her role as an animal rights activist and mother. Anderson was initially reluctant to commit to the project. In retrospect, however, she found that the documentary by newcomer Ryan White would have given her back control over her own narrative. The film will be available from January 31st.
