The Netflix production team for Squid Game will begin filming in July. But before plunging into the shooting location, the cast and crew gathered to do a script reading together.

This moment was shared by Netflix on Thursday (29/6/2023). Along with the announcement of the female players and a line of new actors who will enliven Squid Game 2 later.

Netflix shared a photo collage featuring actors Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, and Wi Ha Joon in the cast of the original Squid Game. Gong Yoo is not visible in the photo even though it has been confirmed that the Goblin actor will appear in the sequel to Netflix’s best-selling drama.

Until now, the character of each actor and actress has not been disclosed. So how important their role is in Squid Game 2 is still a secret. Of course this adds to the audience’s curiosity considering that director Hwang Dong Hyuk has promised many surprises.

The surprise that he had leaked was regarding the appearance of Jung Ho Yeon through a different character. He joked regarding this in an interview during awards season a few years ago.

“Almost all the characters died. I will try to bring them back to the second season,” Hwang Dong Hyuk promised in 2022.

“Just say it’s like Kang Sae Byeok, maybe you have a twin brother? You’ll see later,” he added.

Netflix has not announced when the official Squid Game sequel will be available to watch. What is certain is that filming will begin in July 2023.
