A Netflix ended 2023 with good numbers in the Brazilian market. The foreign platform managed to surpass national and international competitors in terms of audience, leading in the on-demand streaming segment. Despite the difficulties faced in the last year, the North American company achieved 1st place in Ibope in the country.
According to information from Kantar Ibope, the result obtained by Netflix last year is higher than the sum of all rivals in the same category over the 12-month period. This and other performance indicators confirm that Netflix has a wide reach and penetration in the national market, achieving an average audience rating of 4.3 points in the year.
Globoplay, Rede Globo’s streaming platform, appears next with 0.9 Ibope points, followed by Amazon’s Prime Video, which appears in third place with 0.6 points. The last four places belong to HBO Max (0.3 point), Disney Plus (0.2 point), Star Plus (0.2 point) and, at the bottom, others with 0.1 point.
The ranking doesn’t lie: Netflix is the absolute leader in Brazil. This enormous success of the company may be related to the strong investments in original productions and the addition of new films and series to the catalog. In 2023, productions such as the premiere of the series “The Diplomat” and the film “The World After Us” stood out, as well as other titles.
