NetApp® (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that it is collaborating with NVIDIA to advance recovery augmented generation (RAG) for generative AI applications.
New collaboration directly connects newly announced microsserviços NVIDIA NeMo Retriever – that are coming to the software platform NVIDIA AI Enterprise for developing and deploying production-grade AI applications, including generative AI – to exabytes of data on NetApp’s intelligent data infrastructure. All NetApp ONTAP® customers will now be able to “talk to their data” to access proprietary business insights without having to compromise the security or privacy of their data.
Companies want to leverage large, publicly available language models to talk directly and securely to their corporate data, with the assurance that their private data is never accessible outside the company. Until now, companies that wanted to build internal chatbots, co-pilots, and apps that leverage corporate knowledge faced complexity and uncertainty about how to get started without compromising data security or privacy.
NetApp and NVIDIA have developed a simple solution using microsserviços NVIDIA NeMo Retriever for RAG that can leverage any data stored in NetApp ONTAP – locally and in major public clouds.
NetApp customers can now query their data, be it spreadsheets, documents, presentations, technical drawings, images, meeting recordings or even data from their ERP or CRM systems, through simple prompts – maintaining the access control they have already established when storing the data.

The new capability that allows customers to talk to their enterprise data specifically for enterprise RAG complements NetApp’s robust portfolio of AI offerings, which have been leveraged by more than 500 of its joint customers for AI model training and inference, including solutions designed in NVIDIA DGX BasePOD and who are certified to NVIDIA DGX SuperPODin addition to the new OVX Systems Storage Validation Programdesigned specifically for enterprise RAG.
