Israel – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu re-published a clip of a speech in which he pledged that his country would stand alone if forced to do so.
Netanyahu posted the clip in English on his accounts on social media platforms, without writing any comment.
In it, he said: “I say to world leaders: Neither pressure nor any decision from any international forum will discourage Israel from defending itself.”
He added: “As Prime Minister of Israel, the only Jewish state, I pledge that if Israel is forced to stand alone, Israel will stand alone.”
Israeli media considered that Netanyahu used this clip to respond to US President Joe Biden following his statement that Washington would not send weapons to Israel if it launched a large-scale operation on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
Earlier Thursday, Israeli President Isaac Herzog called for avoiding “irresponsible” statements, following a series of publications in which Israeli officials attacked the American president following he threatened to stop supplying weapons to Tel Aviv.
It is noteworthy that Biden’s threat to stop supplying weapons to Israel angered the extremist Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
The first accused Biden and the Palestinian faction movement of loving each other, and the second stressed that despite the American threat, “we must continue until victory.”
For his part, former US President Donald Trump accused Biden of siding with the factional movement.
On Wednesday, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed the temporary suspension of arms shipments of heavy ammunition to Israel, due to disagreements and controversy with Tel Aviv over the invasion of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces entered the city of Rafah at dawn on Tuesday following Tel Aviv announced that the truce offer presented by Hamas did not meet its demands, while the United Nations warned that an Israeli invasion of the city of Rafah would be “unbearable.”
