Netanyahu said in a video speech: “I appeal directly to the Secretary-General of the United Nations… Your refusal to evacuate UNIFIL soldiers makes them hostages of Hezbollah… The time has come for you to remove UNIFIL forces from Hezbollah strongholds and from the combat zones.”
He added, “The Israeli army has requested this repeatedly, and has been repeatedly refused, all aimed at providing a human shield for Hezbollah terrorists. We regret the injury to UNIFIL soldiers and are doing everything in our power to prevent this injury.” But the simple and obvious way to ensure this is to simply move them out of the danger zone. Secretary-General, get UNIFIL forces out of harm’s way. This must be done now, immediately.”
He continued, saying: “These days we commemorate the difficult war that was imposed on us, the Renaissance war against the Iranian axis of evil. We are more determined than ever to secure our future, and we are more determined than ever to defeat our enemies. In Lebanon, we eliminated Nasr. God and his senior officials. Our heroic soldiers destroy Hezbollah’s weapons, headquarters and terrorist tunnels.”
Netanyahu stressed the need to move forward to return the residents of the north to their homes.
He pointed out that “in addition to Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank… in other regions as well, it will continue to work to ensure Israel’s security.”
On the other hand, during his statements, Netanyahu asked his government ministers to “reduce statements,” saying: “There are moments during the war when a simple rule must be observed, and I ask all ministers to observe this rule: talk little and do a lot.”
