Net out-of-pocket increases from 2025 for pensioners with a personal difference [αναλυτικοί πίνακες] 2024-08-07 13:36:01

However, instead of increases and as long as there is still a personal difference, they will receive the one-time personal difference allowance, which for 2025 will be increased to 300 or even 400 euros for low pensions.

The smaller the remainder of the difference, the closer it is to its definitive abolition.

According to the revealing tables compiled and published exclusively today by the “Insurance and Pensions” insert:

  1. Old State pensioners with 37 years of insurance, who have a personal difference balance of 32 euros in 2024, will have it zero with the 2025 increase.
  2. Old pensioners with 37 years of insurance, who have a balance of personal difference between 33 and 63 euros in 2024, will see it zero with the 2025 and 2026 increases.
  3. Old pensioners with 37 years of insurance, who have a personal difference balance of €98 in 2024, will see this to zero with increases until 2028. However, if the mix changes and increases move above 3% per year, then the timetable abolition of the personal dispute will be completed two years earlier, i.e. in 2026.

Pensioners with more insurance years (e.g. 39 and 40 years) and a higher pension (over 1,200 euros) are in a better position, as even with average increases of 3% they will erase the personal difference faster than the rest. Already, as can be seen in the tables, half of the old pensioners with 39 and 40 years have zeroed the personal difference with the recalculation and the increases of 2023 and 2024.

The most determining factor in how quickly the personal difference will disappear is the rate of increase in pensions for the next few years.

With the current mix, i.e. an increase equal to half of the sum of inflation and growth, the resulting percentages for pension increases hover around 3%. With an average increase of 3% and for the following years, pensioners will see their personal difference to zero from 2025, since the rest of it is around 30 to 40 euros, while those with a larger personal difference will wait for the increase in 2026 or the following years.

The mix of increases will not change, meaning that the pension increase rate is set based on the sum of the growth rate and inflation multiplied by 2. For example, with growth of 2.9% in 2024 and inflation of 3.2% the sum resulting is 6.1% and the increase in pensions will be 3.05% (2.9%+3.2%=6.1% by 2=3.05%).

WON

Old pensioners who had many years of insurance (37-40) and high earnings zeroed out of the second recalculation the personal difference and with the increases given in 2023 and 2024 they get a larger amount of pension than they had before the recalculation.

LOST

Pensioners who receive more than €1,600 in main pension and maintain a personal difference of more than €100 are exempt from paying personal difference allowance and will expect to reduce the personal difference to zero only with increases.

How will personal differences of less than 10 euros be settled

Many retirees will find themselves out of increases simply because they will have a very small balance of the personal difference left and to zero it out they will have to wait for next year’s increases. But the government could write off the “small differences” of 2, 3 and 7 euros from the pensioners, for example, so that they get the increases sooner.

For example, a State pensioner with the increase of 2024 further reduced the personal difference, but he was left with a balance of only 2 euros and therefore did not get any increase in his pocket. Instead of waiting for the 2025 increase to zero the personal difference of €2, the government could immediately zero it from 2024 and the pensioner would normally get the 3% increase this year as if he had no personal difference.

Which pensioners are zeroing out the personal difference in 2025

Pensioners with a personal difference of less than 10 euros will be among the first winners next year, as even with the lowest increase (2.5%) they will close the difference and have a net gain in their pension.

Those with a larger personal difference (e.g. 30 euros or 40 euros) will win depending on how high a pension they receive and how much the final increase will be.

With an average annual increase of 3% most retirees make up the difference within 3 years.

For example, according to tables compiled and published by the “Insurance and Pensions” insert:

  1. State pensioners aged 37 receive an average of 1,179 euros in compensatory and national pension before tax with a personal difference balance of 32 euros. With the 2025 increase, the pension will rise by 35 euros and the personal difference will be zero.
  2. Old-age pensioners of the National Bank of 37 years currently receive an average of 1,285 euros compensatory and national pension before tax with a personal difference balance of 63 euros. With the 2025 increase the pension will rise by 39 euros and the personal difference will be reduced to 24 euros, while with the 2026 increase the personal difference will be abolished
