The Ukrainian military liberated the island of Nestriga, near Kherson. The Southern Defense Forces spoke regarding the importance of this territory.

The island is of tactical importance
The head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces, Dmitry Pletenchuk, said that the return of control over the island of Nestriga in the Kherson region will significantly improve the quality of counter-sabotage measures.
This is not regarding strategy, but regarding portioned battles, this is more of a tactical value. Locations that do not allow the enemy to approach our positions, they matter,
– he noted.
According to Pletenchuk, the enemy usually uses such locations, so regaining control of the island is primarily important for the quality of counter-sabotage measures. The speaker also added that such islands are mostly swampy, it takes a long time to find them on the map, but they are larger than the settlements opposite which it is located.
For some time, Nestriga Island was considered a gray zone.
