Cross-country skiing ” Johannes Hösflot Klaebo won his second Tour de Ski yesterday in the Val di Fiemme, triumphing by a margin of 2’03”2 over Alexander Bolshunov. Natalia Nepryaeva, for her part, became the first Russian to include her name in the prize list of the event. Winner of four of the first five stages, Johannes Hösflot Klaebo mastered his subject perfectly yesterday to clinch his 47th World Cup success, one more than the legendary Björn Dählie. The 25-year-old Norwegian clocked the 5th fastest time on the Cermis alp, 34”9 behind the winner of the day, his compatriot Sjur Röthe.
Johannes Hösflot Klaebo even beat Russian Alexander Bolshunov on the line, 7th in this final stage. Best Swiss both in the climb of the alp Cermis and in the general classification, Jonas Baumann finished 16th in the stage, 1’12”7 behind Röthe. He finished this Tour in 18th position, 6’49”8 behind Klaebo. The Swiss cross-country skiers also achieved a good overall performance on Tuesday in the absence of their leader Dario Cologna, who gave up on aligning with the last two stages. Roman Furger finished 19th in Alpe Cermis, 1’20”1 behind Sjur Röthe, Candide Pralong 27th at 1’33”9.
Second of the Tour de ski in both 2019 and 2020, Natalia Nepryaeva (26) also perfectly limited the damage in the 6th and last stage at Alpe Cermis. Ebba Andersson, 2nd overall at 1’12 ”, however quickly attacked, trying everything for everything. But the holder of the yellow bib resisted well and managed her efforts on the terrible final slopes to lose only 25”3 on the Swede. Today’s victory went to Heidi Weng, who was 7 ” ahead of Ebba Andersson to reach 3rd place overall. ats
