NEP made a splash at the Regional Swimming Championship – 2024-07-03 08:04:24

The appearance of the NEP athletes in the Regional Swimming Championship which was at the same time the 1st Phase of the Panhellenic Championship and was a necessary condition for the qualification to the Final Phase of the Panhellenic Championship of Competitive Categories was very satisfactory.

The competitions were held in Patras and the swimming pool “A. Pepanos” on the weekend of June 29-30 and all the NEP athletes qualified and in many cases with remarkable times. In fact, their appearance was accompanied by several medals in the context of the Regional Championship. Specifically, 27 gold-10 silver and 3 bronze medals were won. Andronikos Konstantopoulos (A19-23) won the gold out of 3 in the 50m-100m relay-50m. athlete, Tenia Giannakopoulou (YOUNG) in 50m.-100m.-200m. athletics, Eleftheria Kouri (PK-A) in the 100m relay-50m-100m. petals and Ira Panagiota Karagianni (PK-A) in the 50m-100m-200m. breaststroke, from 2 golds Fanis Kouris (BOY -B) in the 50m-100m breaststroke, Angelos Karakasis (PP-A) in the 800m-1500m. freestyle, Veronika Panagiota Pefani (KORAS) in the 50m-100m backstroke, Vasiliki Bouropoulou (KORAS) in the 400m. MA- 100m. add., Marianna Katsantoni (KORAS-B) in the 50m-200m. add. and Ioli Zafeiropoulou (PK-A) in the 50m-100m. backstroke, while Fotis Chrysanthakopoulos (CHILD) won a gold in the 200m. MA, Dimitris Pasvantidis (PP-B) in the 100m breaststroke. and Myra Iotopoulou (PK-A) in the 50m. el. Silvers were taken by: 2nd Fotis Chrysanthakopoulos (CHILD) in the 400m. MA- 200m. athlete, George Papadimitriou (PP-B) in the 200m. el.-50m. pet. and from one Fanis Kouris (CHILD B’) at 50m. el., Raphaela Margariti (PK-B) in the same event, Maira Iotopoulou (PK-A) in the 100m. el., Veronica Panagiota Pefani (KORAS) in the 200m. backstroke, Vasiliki Bouropoulou (KORAS) in the 200m. add. and Marianna Katsantoni (KORAS-B) in the 100m. add. Finally, the bronzes were taken by: Aristotelis Yalernios (CHILD) in the 100m. el., Georgios Papadimitriou (PP-B) in the same event and Maira Iotopoulou (PK-A) in the 200m. el. Apostolia Skouta (YOUTH-B) who is already in Vilnius, Lithuania with our national team in the Pan-European Youth-Youth Championship is very absent.

Despite her absence the NEP girls managed to take 2nd place in the Women’s Standings of the District Regional Championship. The selection of two of our children as the best male and female athletes of the games, according to the international ranking of World Aquatics, is also very important. It is about Andronikos Konstantopoulos (A19-23) and his performance in the 100m. freestyle with 53.32 and 678 points and Tenia Giannakopoulou (NEAN) for her performance in the 100m. butterfly with 01:02.91 and 685 points! NEP congratulated both of them, as well as all the children of NEP for their excellent appearance and qualification to the Final Phase of the Panhellenic Competition Category Championship and finally to their coach Lina Mastropaskou!
