NEOS to Stocker: 36 years of ÖVP in government have made Austria the highest tax country

Hoyos: “Instead of getting angry regarding headlines, the ÖVP should relieve people.”

Vienna (OTS) “Apparently the People’s Party and the Chancellor’s PR machine only read the headlines. If they were to comment on the whole situation, they would have to admit that their years of politics have increased the tax burden for people,” reacts NEOS Secretary General Douglas Hoyos on a broadcast by the ÖVP. “After 20 years as ÖVP finance minister, the ancillary wage costs are unbearably high, the black Chamber of Commerce sits on billions in reserves, which it does not give back to the companies and employees, and people can no longer build anything or create property on their own.”

The state burdens low earners today like it did for top earners a few decades ago. For NEOS it is clear: “The recipe once morest high prices. Lower taxes,” says Hoyos. A reduction in non-wage labor costs is possible without a loss of performance for employees, for example by abolishing Chamber 2 contribution. “The solutions from us NEOS are all on the table. Instead of distracting from the fact that we ourselves have no answers to inflation and for the is responsible for the immense tax burden, the ÖVP should finally get to work, because at the moment it is mainly attracting attention due to scandals such as the lack of appointments and fabricated debates regarding normality.”
