Loacker: “New taxes are the last thing we need now in Austria, a high-tax country.”
Vienna (OTS) – “Austria is already an absolute high-tax country. New taxes are the last thing we need now,” NEOS economic and social spokesman Gerald Loacker criticizes the statements made by SPÖ party leader Andreas Babler on property and inheritance taxes in today’s Ö1-Mittagsjournal. Instead of starting the ‘comeback of social democracy’ with old tax burden ideas that push the tax burden even further up, the new SPÖ party leader must seriously consider how the burden on people in Austria can actually be relieved. “There must be the opportunity to move forward and build something on your own,” says Loacker.
“Our plans for noticeable relief are on the table. It is particularly important to us that wage and income tax is finally reduced so that people have more to live on,” stresses Loacker. “The abolition of capital gains tax for savings books and accounts that we propose would also be an important lever to relieve the middle of society. And incidentally, that would also have a positive effect on high inflation.”
