The Prosecutor’s Office prosecuted Nelson Patiño Herrera, alias Ocho or Julián, as allegedly responsible for the crime of conspiracy to commit an aggravated crime before a guarantee control judge.
The defendant would be the trusted man of Ricardo Abel Ayala Urrego, alias Cabuyo, leader of the 36th Front of the Farc dissidents and who died on June 10, 2022 in combat with the National Army in Barbosa, Antioquia.
The collected test material showed that Patiño Herrera joined the guerrilla as a minor and in 2019 he was sent to Cuba where he would have completed medical studies.
The actions carried out by alias Ocho would have led him to play the role of ideologue for the aforementioned guerrilla front.

The investigation reveals that the accused today fulfilled the role of politician in the criminal organization, and supported the supply of materials for the quartermaster for confrontations with the Public Force.
Information held by the Prosecutor’s Office indicates that the 36th Front would be responsible for a series of selective homicides, kidnappings, extortions, installation of mine fields and attacks once morest the Public Force and the civilian population.
Judicial police work, including photographic recognition and testimonies, made it possible to fully identify Patiño Herrera and managed to capture him.
The defendant denied his responsibility for the crime charged and at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office he was sent to a prison.
