Something that was not as fun was the pace of the game.
Sunday’s decisive round took six (!) hours from start to finish.
– Honestly, I hate it. I’m going absolutely crazy. I really can’t stand it. Slow play is the worst thing I know, says Nelly Korda in the No Laying Up podcast.
Does not apply the rules
She herself is one of the absolute fastest players on the LPGA tour, but the majority of her colleagues are all the slower and the tour officials are once once more failing to enforce the rules that de facto say you have 40 seconds to hit their shot when it’s yours lucky.
– I was mentally prepared that it was going to be a long day and I made sure not to get ready for my shots until it was actually my turn. If you stand there, ready to hit and are forced to wait, it becomes easy to start overanalyzing and that’s not good, says Korda, who played with Korean Hae Ran Ryu and Canadian Brooke Henderson, who often take a long time.
Recurring problem
During the Women’s Open last summer, the pace of play was also a big talking point, and Nelly Korda and Swedish stars Anna Nordqvist and Linn Grant vented great disappointment when Sportbladet spoke to them.
