Neighbor Dispute in Auvelais: Man Allegedly Fires 20 Shots Over Repellent Incident

A sixty-year-old living in Auvelais, in the town of Sambreville, fired twenty times on Friday at the house of his neighbors, thinking that they had wanted to keep his cats away from their property with repellent, the Namur prosecutor’s office said on Saturday. A car was also hit and is now out of service.

The facts occurred in the rue du Charbonnage. The man born in 1959, owning regarding twenty cats, was taken with a big anger when he suspected his neighbors of using repellent. On vacation, they were fortunately not in their house.

The 60-year-old is being prosecuted for willful damage and violations of weapons legislation. In addition, a dozen weapons were found at his home. An examining magistrate must hear him on Saturday.
