Zürich: “Because I filled the Züri-Sack above the mark, the neighbor saw red”

more bizarre neighborhood dispute: A man reported that his neighbor called the police following he threw his garbage bag overflowing in the trash. “I filled a 35-liter Zürisack to the mark and tied it up so that the straps only just managed to hold the bag together,” writes the user.
When he carried the full garbage bag to the garbage on Sunday, his neighbor saw red: “When he saw me, he immediately reported me to the police.” On the Online-Forum Reddit he reports that he has already received a reprimand from the administration: “I had received a warning because I did not bundle the box properly.”
Users criticize neighbors
In the comment column, users are annoyed by the neighbor’s behavior: “It’s crazy, even by Swiss standards. And certainly nothing that interests the police.” Another user writes: “Your neighbor is a Oberbünzli.”
Another person jokingly comments: “This is a rookie mistake.” He then reveals his insider tip: a hydraulic press to compress the waste. “I only need a 35 liter bag every two months. It’s freaking heavy though, so I make sure I only throw it away when no one sees me.”
ERZ sees no problem in bulging Zürisacks
To classify the case, the police referred to Entsorgung + Recycling Zürich ERZ. As ERZ media spokesman Tobias Nussbaum explains, fee bags may be filled “totally”. “But not overfilled so that waste falls out or even the sack tears.” If the latter is the case, “we are moving on the border of illegal disposal,” continued Nussbaum. This fact can be shown. “But the intention of illegal disposal must be recognizable.”
Depositing your household waste in the appropriate containers on Sunday is permitted. However, the situation is different at collection points for recyclables: “Where glass and small metals are disposed of, there is often noise,” says the ERZ media spokesman. In order to comply with the quiet times, the use of the recycling points in the city of Zurich is only permitted on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Nussbaum further notes that cardboard must be bundled and tied up and made available on the evening before collection or on the same day by seven o’clock at the latest. Collecting the cardboard in paper sacks is also suboptimal: “The paper sacks are not stable enough when they are wet.”
