Negotiations at BODIVA grow by around 80% annually – Jornal OPaís

Trading on the Angolan Debt and Securities Exchange (BODIVA) has grown annually by 83% over the last ten years, according to the president of the Executive Council (PCE) of the aforementioned institution, Walter Pacheco.

The person in charge who spoke during the celebration of BODIVA’s 10th anniversary, under the motto “Achievements and challenges”, said that in terms of market evolution, there was an evolution in the amount negotiated, with an average annual growth of around 80% over the last 10 years, and 2023 was a year that saw very significant growth.

In terms of business volume, he continued, there was an increase of up to five thousand and 500 businesses, which leads them to believe that the average transaction value has increased, but the number of transactions remains the same.

In 2016, according to the BODIVA Market report, there were 243 investors, in 2017 the number was higher and was in the order of 3,331 Investors and currently, there are around 30 thousand investors.

“This demonstrates the path we have taken, but these 30 thousand investors are still relatively few for the national population, but when we look at the trajectory we are having, with cumulative annual growth of 168.19%, it is a very positive trajectory”, he highlighted Walter Pacheco.

The director of the Negotiation Department, Raúl Diniz, also reinforced that the amount negotiated has grown sustainably by around 83% annually, and in 2022 this amount grew four times.

Regarding the entry of Sonangol on the Stock Exchange, the director of the Trading Department highlighted that the process continues because the oil company admitted to trading in bonds worth 75 billion kwanzas in September last year and it is understood that it is the pilot text for the local market that was a guaranteed success because the demand for the bonds was higher than what Sonangol had to sell.
