Negotiating Ceasefire and Hostage Release in Egypt: CIA Director’s Visit

Cairo: The director of the American intelligence agency CIA came to Egypt to discuss the release of hostages and ceasefire. CIA Director William Burns arrived in Cairo to negotiate a temporary cessation of hostilities and the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for hostages taken by Hamas.

His visit comes following the US and the United Nations warned once morest Israel launching a ground war without ensuring the safety of the 14 million refugees in Rafah.

Qatar and Egypt are continuing to broker a long-term ceasefire in Gaza. William Burns also held discussions with David Barnia, head of Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad. Meanwhile, Hamas has warned that any talks on the release of the hostages will end if an attack is carried out on Rafah.
