In nine out of ten cases over the past twenty years, Zurich party trends have anticipated those in Switzerland. In particular, how the big parties will fare in the fall can usually be predicted. That’s how it was four years ago, when the SVP did poorly in Zurich, while the Greens and GLP made big gains. This pattern was repeated a few months later in the National Council elections.
