Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is an important platform which will be continued, it is welcome and need of the hour to come together to deal with economic challenges.
An introductory meeting of the Apex Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Army Chief General Asim Munir along with top civil and military leadership participated in the meeting.
Apart from the federal ministers, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah also participated in the meeting.
Former Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar and former Caretaker Cabinet members were also invited to the Apex Committee meeting.
In the meeting, the National Coordinator and Director General (DG) of SIFC gave a detailed briefing to the participants on the ongoing investment projects in the country.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that SIFC is an important platform which will be continued, the apex committee of SIFC worked effectively and efficiently even in the caretaker government.
The Prime Minister clarified that it is welcome and need of time for everyone to come together to deal with the economic challenges.
He said that military leadership did extraordinary work in the success of SIFC and promotion of foreign investment.
In the meeting, measures for economic reforms, privatization of institutions and improvement of departments were considered.
The caretaker cabinet informed regarding the goals set for the improvement of the economy and the progress on them.
It should be remembered that during the PDM regime, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the notification of the Special Investment Facilitation Council was officially issued on June 17, in which, apart from 9 federal ministers, important military officers including the Army Chief were also appointed. was added.
The forum was created to attract investment from the Gulf countries in agriculture, minerals, defence, energy and information technology.
