Since takeover of Codemasters by Electronic Arts we suspected that the English racing game giant was going to intervene on the next Need For Speed. It’s now official with the announcement of the merger of the Cheshire studio with Criterion Games!
Need For Speed 2022: Criterion is growing!
It’s been 9 years since Criterion released a car racing game! Since 2013 and Need For Speed Rivals the English studio simply serves as a “reinforcement” on Star War Battlefront and the last two Battlefields. This year will mark the great return of Criterion in the saga Need For Speed. This 2022 opus, still very mysterious, will also benefit from the know-how of Codemasters! Indeed, within the framework of the development of the next NFS, we learn that Codemasters absorbs Codemasters Cheshire (formerly Evolution Studios). Criterion now has two studios, one in Guildford and one in Cheshire now.
The studio behind the WRC (on Playstation 2), MotorStorm and DriveClub will therefore help finalize Need For Speed, which will be released at the end of the year! Now we just have to wait for the official announcement of this 2022 album.
